| The North Penn Volunteer Fire Company looks forward to Fire Prevention Week every year. During that time the fire company goes around to the local schools so that we may teach the children how to prevent fires and also what they should do in case of a fire at their homes. |

The one most important thing you can have in your house in case of a The most important thing that we remind people about smoke detectors is, that a battery must be in at all times. Also every once in a while you should test you detector to make sure it works and to ensure that the battery is good.

The one other important thing is to always have a plan for the family to escape the house in case of a fire. You need to set up a plan on how to get out of the house and also you need to set up an area outside for your family to meet once you are all outside. It is important that everyone is accounted for once out of the house. Also once everyone is out of the house they need to be sure not to go back in.

During Fire Prevention and throughout the year we have tours of the firehouse that are able to be set-up. This allows the public to get up close to the equipment we used. It allow them to understand what the tool is and how it is used. It is also a good way to allow children to see us in full turnout gear so that they will not be afraid of us at an actual fire. |
