With 7 days into the new year already behind us, the North Penn Volunteer Fire Company has already accomplished so much. Not only administratively with getting set for the year, North Penn has also responded on 9 emergency 911 calls, including a cardiac emergency, respiratory emergency, an electrical fire and smoke in a building.
North Penn's QRS handles EMS responses like the cardiac and respiratory emergencies. Last year responding to 310 EMS calls and already up to 4 this year in a week, the QRS is manned by volunteers that are certified EMT's and First Responders trained to handle medical situations till the ambulance arrives.
62 units, along with 7, 33 and 18 units, were dispatched to an electrical fire at a residence in Lower Gwynedd early Wednesday morning. Squad 62 was first on scene and laid 5 inch supply hose. A home had to be ventilated. 351 was dispatched as a precaution for the residence due to the cold.
Thursday morning in North Wales, Station 62, Squad 80, Squad 14, Ladder and Rescue 18, and Engine 76 were dispatched for smoke in a building. Chief and Squad 62 arrived on location and investigated. A small fire was extinguished and the home was ventilated.
