2014 Water Battle Team
Saturday, July 12, 2014
Saturday morning brought the 5th Fire District together to compete in the 14th Annual Water Battle. The showing of competing fire companies was down this year, but the moral, camaraderie and competition was high. North Penn sent a group of firefighters, captained by their Battalion Chief, to try and win the 5 events and the title of Overall winner. Though North Penn fell short in 4 out of the 5 events, they did bring home the first place trophy for Tug o' War with some assistance from 2 friends from 345, defeating the long standing champions in the event, Towamencin. The other events were the Midnight Run, Bucket Brigade, Keg on a Wire and a mystery event. Every year the Water Battle ends with a mystery event, thought up by the hosting company. This year's hosting company, Towamencin, created a 6 person relay race covering several firefighting skills like rescue drags, CPR, vehicle rescue, laddering, ventilation and radio communication.
Thank you to the 5th District for putting together another great Water Battle, Towamencin for hosting, to all the companies who sent a crew to compete and special thanks to everyone who came out to cheer on the North Penn Team.
